Social media users have mocked the attendance at the rally held by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday.
The event was attended by Obi and his running mate, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, including supporters of their presidential ambition.
Also, the leader of the Yoruba socio-political group, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, was present to advise the crowd against voting along tribal lines.
Before the event, comments could be seen on social media praising the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for granting Obi and his supporters access to the Adamasingba Stadium.
One @Officialemanie had said, “Seyi makinde gave Peter Obi a 10,000 capacity stadium. Bulaba fans are on watch to know if we can fill it up. I will be there by the special grace of God 9,999 people left.”
However, when photos from the event surfaced on social media, it could be seen that the stadium in Ibadan was not used but an open ground.
This was mocked by opposition supporters who said the crowd in attendance could also be pulled by an ordinary local government chairman.
Below are some comments gathered by Kemifilani News.
A former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, @BashirAhmaad, tweeted, “Is this really a presidential rally?”
@AgohTiza said, “Senator Suswam pulled more this in just one Local Government.”
@MediaApc said, “My Local Government Chairman will pull more crowd than this.”
@OladeleAbeeb4 said, “Despite the fact that, some people come from neboring state o.”
@Ricardodegreat said, “The crowd is not that much. Most of them were induced, begged and appealed to before they made these appearances. Needless to say Oyo ppl don’t give a hoot abt Obi or Datti. This is a pointer to the fact that the Governor, like the other aggrieved Governors, can’t sway ppls votes.”
