Sowore explains how APC destroyed democracy in Ekiti guber election
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress and publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore, has explained how the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, destroyed Democracy in the country at the just concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.
KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that the APC candidate, Oyebanji emerged the winner after he polled a total of 187,057 votes to defeat his closest rival, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 82,211 votes while Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), got 67,457 votes.
Sowore, via his Twitter handle on Sunday, stated that the ruling APC destroyed Democracy in the country with money.
The human rights activist also accused the outgoing state governor, Kayode Fayemi, and other members of the ruling APC of having monetised the election in their victory.
He wrote, “In Ekiti, the APC monetised the governorship election to the point that those that stayed away from their (s)election playing street soccer probably felt they are the only ones who took the right decision. It’s a shame!
“Governor Kayode Fayemi of the APC made his name as a “pro-democracy” activist, by yesterday he and other members of his party destroyed Democracy with paper money!” Sowore said, sharing a video of some youths playing football while the election was holding in the state.”
