The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has condemned the burning og the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State.
The office was burnt on Sunday by gunmen, making it the seventh attack suffered by the INEC in the last four months.
This was disclosed by the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.
He said, “Overall, this is the 7th attack on our facilities in five states of the federation in the last four months.
“Once again, the commission expresses its concern on the consequences of what appears to be a systematic attack on its facilities across the country on the conduct of elections in particular and electoral activities in general.”
Reacting, SERAP tweeted, “We condemn the attack today on INEC office in the Oru West LGA of Imo State, the second attack there in three days. The Buhari administration MUST immediately end these attacks, arrest, name and prosecute the perpetrators and their sponsors.”
