The Nigeria Police Force has described as unacceptable the action of a policewoman carrying a handbag alleged to belong to Titi, the wife of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated this on Thursday via his Twitter account.
Adejobi said the right sanctions would be meted out to the orderly after she must have been fished out.
According to him, such action of carrying the bag of their principal hinders them from performing their police duties.
The Force Spokesperson said that such action would not be allowed to continue in the system.
He stated these while reacting after the yet-to-be-identified orderly was captured in a series of photos carrying the handbag and standing right behind Atiku‘s wife at unveiling a women-based initiative in Abuja on Wednesday.
He wrote, “This is not acceptable. We have commenced necessary action on this. We will fish her out and get across to the principal.” Adejobi said in a series of tweets.
“To us in the police, it’s an absurdity and should not be allowed to continue.
“To you, it might not be serious but to us, it’s serious for many reasons some of which are known to you as well. We don’t need any sentiment if at all we are serious about reform.
“My brother, this is bad for an orderly to carry bag for her madam, more so that the madam is not a service(sic) police officer. How does she defend her if there is any attack on her?”
