In preparation for the 2023 elections, the 16 gubernatorial campaign directorates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau have been officially inaugurated by the party’s regional chairman, Chief Rufus Bature.
On Thursday in Jos, Mr. Sylvanus Namang, the State Publicity Secretary, announced the directorates’ inauguration in a statement that was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
In the statement, Bature reportedly gave the heads and members orders to actively campaign for the party to win the elections from top to bottom.
According to the chairman, the APC wants to hold onto power while other parties are attempting to regain it.
He said there is no vacancy in Government House, Jos, as the party would use its numerical strength to win the election.
“The journey is going to be tough and rugged but the party is going to triumph,” he said.
The governorship candidate, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, in his remarks, congratulated those who made the list which is a product of a very painstaking, diligent and strategic selection.
Yilwatda said the list of the campaign directorates being unveiled was drawn up after a tripartite committee set up by the governor, who is the leader of the party, submitted its report.
He expressed optimism that the party would win the election, given the efforts that have so far been put in place.
“We are going to leave no stone unturned and with God on our side, we are going to win as we have the people behind us.
“I want specifically to appreciate APC State Chairman, Chief Rufus Bature, for consolidating the party at the ward, local government and state levels,” he said.
To herald the campaigns, Yilwatda said that he interacted with different strata of Plateau community in form of thank you visits and citizens engagement at multiple spots in the 17 local governments.
He revealed that the governorship campaign would be flagged off in Wase very soon, to be followed by the ones for the Central Senatorial District in Pankshin and Northern Senatorial District in Jos South.
