Peter Oni will restore Nigeria – Datti

Ahmed Datti has said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has the wherewithal to reposition the country if elected president.

On some of the things the Obi presidency will achieve, Datti said it will restructure the market system, using strict adherence to regulations in a bid to provide conducive atmosphere for business in the country.

Datti is Obi’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election holding in February.

He spoke when he met with a group of supporters in Kano.

“When we come on board, we would ensure compliance with regulations. But, even more important, when we promote education, we promote the culture of following building standard and regulations.

“We are expansionist in nearly everything we do. Kantin Kwari’s capacity has for long exceeded the territory it operates.

“So, it is high time to expand the market into Kantin Kwari 2 and Kantin Kwari 3. This is our thinking in labour party.

“It is about time to break out of the box from thinking of shago-shago system we know, into modern markets and shopping malls. That is the kind of leaders we hope to be,” he said.

On his part, Obi tweeted from America, “The Obi-Datti administration, from its inception, will continue to encourage investment in infrastructure energy, transport, irrigation, and telecoms to grow these and other sectors. We are eager to quickly close the infrastructure gap between now and 2030.

“That is the Nigeria and the Africa that we want by the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals target year. That is the Africa we want by our own African Union 2063 framework.

“Our country richly endowed with God-given resources has over 84 million hectares of arable land. To put this in geographical context, Nigeria’s arable land is larger than the entire land mass of Turkey. And barely 40% of this arable land is cultivated today.-“
