PDP reacts to hike in BRT bus fare

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the proposed increase in the fare of BRT buses in Lagos State.

KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved an additional increase of N100 for BRT bus fares across all routes from July 13.

The state government blamed the hike in the pump price of diesel from N187 to N830 Naira and the unavailability of spare parts for the increase.

The PDP Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, Hon Hakeem Amode, who faulted the proposed increase in BRT fare said the APC led government has shown lack of compassion and total disregard for the plight of residents.

Hon. Amode said the crippling economic situation was brought about by the same government’s ineptitude being experienced by Lagosians on a daily basis.

According to Amode, the Sanwo-Olu‘s administration has turned blind eye to the people’s predicament and the few ‘Luxuries’ that the people benefit from the state are being taken away.

“Now is not the time for any form of increment, as the people of the state have suffered enough under this unsympathetic government.”

He insisted that the proposed increase be shelved so as not to worsen the citizens’ situation in the face of dilapidated infrastructure, insecurity, hunger, and rise in crime, among others being experienced by the people of the state.
