The Labour Party has raised N10,961,000,000 which will be used to campaign to win the 2023 presidential election.

The party fielded former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as presidential candidate and Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.

The fund raised were monies donated by supporters of the party and its presidential candidate, popularly known as Obidients.

This was after the Labour Party launched a campaign that required N1,000 from each of its supporters.

Announcing the amount gotten so far, the party tweeted, “Dear compatriots in this struggle to take back our country. Through your help, we have raised N10,961m.

“We thank you immensely, and also seek for more support from you.

“Your support is key to completing the task ahead. Be assured of transparency and judicious use of the funds.”

Obi thanks Obidients for donations

Reacting, Obi took to Twitter to thank all those who contributed to the course to arrive at a new Nigeria.

The former governor tweeted, “My Fellow Nigerians, I thank every member of the OBIdient Family and every supporter for their immeasurable support in our march to a new Nigeria. We would not have gotten this far without your support.

“We call on you once again to donate to our campaign fundraising accounts attached, to help make the new Nigeria of our dreams a reality.

“Together we can do it. – PO.”
