The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has said no injury nor death was recorded as a result of a fire incident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.
The Service, however, failed to state the cause of the fire incident which happened at Sun Contractor Project Services Limited, Mowe, Ogun State.
Update on the situation was issued in a statement signed by Adeseye Margaret, Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
It read, “The Fire which was reported at 11:22hours, Monday, was subdued from causing secondary incident by the Alausa and Ilupeju fire crews, leaving four stationed gas truck severely burnt.
“There was neither case of injury nor death as damping down of the Fire has been concluded. The cause of the fire is unknown at the time of this report as preliminary investigation is ongoing and will be made public.
“Meanwhile, the area is safe and people can go about their lawful businesses without fear.”
The statement put to bed rumours that there was a bomb blast inside the Redemption City run by the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Social media reports had created panic as many thought terrorists had struck inside the church.
However, it was later learnt that the blast sound heard was from a gas station close to the Redemption City.
This was confirmed by the RCCG PR in a statement issued shortly after the fire was put out.
The statement read, “The leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God wishes to empathize with the people involved in the unfortunate gas explosion that occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 29, 2022.
“The Incident which had been brought under control by the combined effort of RCCG Fire Service, Ogun State Fire Service and the Lagos State Fife Service occurred in the Gas Station not too far from the Sagamu-bound traffic near car park c gate and the main gate of the Redemption City.
“Against the news making the rounds, the incident was completely outside the Redemption City and our fire service team only responded as part of our community service support to our neighbours within the environ.
“We thank God the incident has been put under control. We wish to inform all residents and visitors to the Redemption City that there is no scare of any sort and everyone can go about their lawful activities.”
