A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Daniel Bwala, has dumped the ruling party following the announcement of a Muslim, Senator Kashim Shettima as running mate to its presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
KEMI FILANI NEWS had earlier reported that Tinubu announced Shettima as his running mate after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura home in Katsina State on Sunday.
The former Lagos State governor said he chose Shettima, a fellow Muslim, because he would bring the best to Nigerians from different regions and religions.
Reacting to Shettima’s nomination, Bwala stated that the ruling party’s efforts and energy should unite Nigerians at such a time and not otherwise.
His tweets read: “Tonight I officially resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCNg on principles and conviction that I hold so dear. At this time of our national existence, our efforts and energy should gravitate towards uniting our people.
“Asiwaju has announced Kashim Shetima as his running mate. Kwankwaso is planning to announce a Pentecostal Bishop as his running mate. Interesting times lie ahead.”
