Military response to Biafra agitation is the problem not IPOB – Kanu’s lawyer

Aloy Ejimakor and Nnamdi Kanu IPOB Military Biafra

Aloy Ejimakor, a counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has said the military response to Biafra agitation is the problem of Nigeria not the separatist group.

Ejimakor made this assertion in a statement issued in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, on Friday evening.

He said, “The problem is not the separatist agitation, IPOB or Nnamdi Kanu. The problem is the misguided militarist response to it, which, instead of containing it, is actually validating the agitation.”

Recall that the United Nations has urged the Federal Government and its agencies to unconditionally release Kanu from the Department of State Services’ detention in Abuja.

He added, “It is referendum that made Atiku Abubakar a Nigerian and which may also make him President.

“It’s through referendum that Midwest region came into being in 1964. This is all within Nigeria, not counting the many nations that were created through referendum, such as Eritrea, Kosovo, South Sudan, etc.”

Ejimakor, therefore, advised that the IPOB leader should be unconditionally released and compensated.

Reacting, the IPOB leader’s younger brother, Prince Emma Kanu, said, “they have vehemently refused to understand the reasons behind the agitation. Not only the Biafra is agitating, but every part of the country is agitating.

“Until they begin to listen, they will not get it right. We want to be free.”
