FG secures Interim Forfeiture Order, takes 40 properties belonging to Ekweremadu

The federal government on Friday, obtained an order of interim forfeiture from an Abuja Federal High Court for 40 landed properties belonging to the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

These include: 10 of Ekweremadu’s properties in Enugu, three in the United States of America (USA), two in the United Kingdom (UK), one in Lagos, nine in Dubai, and 15 located in the Federal Capital Territory.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, the trial Judge, gave the order following an ex-parte motion filed. And moved by Ibrahim Buba on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Ruling on the motion, the Judge ordered EFCC to publish the interim forfeiture order of the properties in a national daily within seven days from the date the order was given.

Ekweremadu and his wife are currently standing trial in the United Kingdom over allegations of organ harvesting.

Wike, Ekweremadu given appointments in PDP campaign council

The presidential campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been set up by the National Working Committee (NWC).

PDP national organising secretary, Umar Bature, confirmed this in a document released late Thursday night.

Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom, was named as the chairman of the campaign council. While Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, was appointed as the director-general.

Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, was listed as the vice-chairman of the council (north). And Seyi Makinde of Oyo, as vice chairman (south).

All PDP governors are among the members of the presidential campaign council, including Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state.

Ike Ekweremadu, who is standing trial in the UK over alleged organ harvesting, is also a member of the council.

Other members of the campaign council include Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River, as deputy director-general of operations; Adewale Oladipo as deputy director-general, administration; Raymond Dokpesi as deputy director-general, technical and systems; and Okwesilieze Nwodo, as deputy director-general, research and strategy.

Bature said members of the campaign council will be inaugurated on September 28, in Abuja.
