The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has said the landslide victory of governor-elect of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, reflect his popularity in the state.

Adamu disclosed this in a statement issued by his media aide, Muhammad Nata’ala Keffi, in Abuja on Sunday.

KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that Oyebanji emerged winner after he polled a total of 187,057 votes to defeat his closest rival, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 82,211 votes while Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), got 67,457 votes.

Adamu said, “The victory was the result of the popularity of Oyebanji’s candidature as well as the strong campaign strategies put in place by the APC.

“He has the pedigree, experience and vision to take Ekiti State to the next level of development.”

The APC Chairman assured that the governor-elect will continue to implement the people oriented programmes of the Party as already started by the outgoing governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

“In this first election to be held after he became National Chairman, the victory recorded at the election was a precursor to expected victories of the APC at the Osun election later this year and at the 2023 general elections,” he noted.
