Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, has sworn in a newly elected member, Oluwole Fatoba, representing Ekiti East Constituency one.
Fatoba, an All Progressives Congress member, was elected in the by-election of June 18, to fill the space vacated by Oluwajuwa Adegbuyi, who died in January 2021.
Afuye, who prayed that the House would not witness any loss of life again, welcomed the new lawmaker into the chamber and admonished him “to always abide by the oath of office”.
In his reaction, the new lawmaker said, “I have the capacity to give effective representation to the people of my constituency. I will contribute positively towards the unity and progress of the legislative arm of government, my constituency and Ekiti State in general”.
Fatoba commended the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, his wife, Bisi Fayemi, and the APC members across the state and in his constituency for their support that led to his victory at the poll.
