Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran, has debunked speculations regarding plans by terrorists to attack Ilara Mokin town in the state.
Oyediran stated this while reacting to rumours circulating about a purported letter sent to a radio station by a terror group.
KEMI FILANI NEWS recalls that earlier this month, St Francis Catholic church, Owo, was attacked by terrorists, leaving at least 40 worshippers dead.
The police, in a statement issued on Thursday, advised the public not to panic over the “false information”.
The statement read, “Kindly disregard the rumour that terrorists wrote to Ilara Mokin via Adaba 88.9FM on their intention to attack the community.”
“The Information is false and misleading with intent to create unnecessary panic in Ilara Mokin and its environs.”
The police boss noted that the management of Adaba FM had already issued a disclaimer while warning peddlers of the “negative story” to desist.
He assured the people of the state of adequate protection.
