President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2023 budget before a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday.
Buhari entered the temporary chamber of the House of Representatives, the venue of the ceremony, at 10:07 am, amid tight security around the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
The heavy presence of security agencies consists of men of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, Federal Road Safety Corps, Federal Fire Service and sergeants-at-arms.
KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, had disclosed during Tuesday’s plenary that Buhari will present the N19.76trillion 2023 Appropriation bill before the National Assembly on Friday.
A breakdown of Buhari budget presentation since he became the President of the country in 2015, are as follow: in 2015, it was a budget sum of N4.5 trillion, in 2016, it rose to N 6.06 trillion, in 2017, it was N7.44 trillion, in 2018, the budget was jerked to N 9.12 trillion in 2019, it was N8.9 trillion, in 2020, it rose to N10.33 trillion; in in 2021, it was N13.6 trillion and in 2022, it was N17.126 trillion.
