Borno: NNPP headquarters sealed, senatorial candidate arrested

The Borno State Urban Development Management Board has sealed off the state headquarters of the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP) in Maiduguri, the state capital.

After honouring an invitation, the police also arrested the party’s Central Senatorial Candidate, Hon Attom Muhammad Maigira.

“When I got the information that police have sealed our secretariat, I rushed to find out the reason for their presence. As I am talking to you, they have arrested me and did not explain this reason for my arrest,” he said.

The NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr Umaru Alkali, confirmed this while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri.

According to Alkali, the policemen were deployed to the Party Secretariats along Abbaganaram and Gidan Maradara areas to prevent the party faithful from accessing their offices.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sani Kamilu Muhammed, could not be reached at the time of filling this report, Daily Trust reports.
