Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has described the incessant killings and kidnappings perpetrated by bandits across the country are a “test from God.”
The governor stated this during a condolence visit to Sabon Gida Jada in Alkaleri Local Government Area, which bandits recently attacked.
Mohammed urged religious, political and traditional leaders to pray for the country.
“The situation we’ve found ourselves in now is a test from God,” he stated. “Our leaders, especially our traditional rulers and religious leaders, should all go back to God, including all of us politicians. Security agencies should also be fair and just to everyone.”
The governor lamented that the insecurity bedevilling the country was “getting out of hand” as bandits now try to overwhelm the state.
“We know that the thing has become worse since we were hearing it happen far away, but now, it has come to Sabon Gari. Even in Alkaleri, people now live in serious fear. That was why I felt I should come and commiserate with you people over this incident,” he said.
Mohammed’s statement comes after Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle advised residents to take up arms to defend themselves against invasion by bandits.
The State authorities urged the Commissioner of Police to issue gun licenses to curb insecurity.
