Senator Kashim Shettima, representing Borno Central in the National Assembly, has reacted to his emergence as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, after the party’s flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, picked him as his running mate.
KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that Tinubu announced Shettima as his running mate after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura home in Katsina State on Sunday.
Shettima met Tinubu in Abuja and thanked him for picking him as his running mate.
The former Borno State governor said he was visiting children orphaned by Boko Haram in Borno when news of his selection broke.
The Senator stated this on his Facebook page on Monday.
“Thank you for the trust Sir Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Prior to the official announcement of my nomination as the running mate to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. My intention was to visit 2 orphanages in Maiduguri (the Abdulateef Zabadne Orphanage Foundation and the Future Assured College) to celebrate with the orphans in the spirit of the Sallah festival.”
“In fact, the announcement came in while I was mingling and trying to put a smile on the faces of the kids who mostly became orphans as a result of Boko Haram insurgency,” he added.
