The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled Senator Kashim Shettima as its vice presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
KEMI FILANI NEWS recalls that APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced a fellow Muslim, Shettima as his running mate after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura home in Katsina State.
The unveiling ceremony event, which is ongoing at the Shehu Yar’adua Center in Abuja, has in attendance Tinubu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, and other chieftains.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed this via a tweet.
“Our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), unveils Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he tweeted.
The APC had received backlash from concerned Nigerians, religious leaders, opposition parties and the Christians Association of Nigeria for fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
While Tinubu is a Muslim from Lagos State, the South-Western region of the country, Shettima is also a Muslim from the North-Eastern part of Borno State.
