Wizkid's Remarkable Billboard Chart Achievement

Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” Album Continues to Soar on the Billboard Charts

In an impressive feat demonstrating the enduring appeal of Wizkid’s music, “Made in Lagos,” one of the standout Afrobeats projects of all time, has once again made its mark on the Billboard Charts. Several years after its initial debut, the album is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, capturing the hearts of both Wizkid FC and a wave of new fans.

The resurgent “Made in Lagos” album has reclaimed its position on the prestigious Billboard World Albums chart, securing the 15th spot. This remarkable achievement not only extends Wizkid’s chart record but also solidifies his status as the second African artist with the longest-charting album on this renowned chart.

Wizkid's "Made in Lagos" Album

Back in February 2022, a significant milestone was achieved when Wizkid and Cesaria Evora, a talented Cape Verdean singer who had won a Grammy for her album “Cesária,” shared the title for the longest-charting African album on the Billboard World Albums chart. Cesaria Evora had been the sole African artist to have her album maintain a presence on the chart for an impressive 66 weeks, ultimately reaching the second position.

Wizkid’s latest re-entry, however, surpasses this record, as it has now spent more than 130 weeks on the list. The enduring popularity of this three-year-old album is a testament to the artist’s enduring appeal, making it seem as though Wizkid hasn’t released any new music since its initial launch.

Despite the anticipation of new music from the Grammy Award-winning artist, Wizkid, also known as Big Wiz, surprised his devoted fanbase by dropping “More Love Less Ego,” a follow-up studio album to “Made in Lagos” last year. While it may not have reached the monumental standards set by “Made in Lagos” on a global scale, it has managed to maintain its position in the top 25 albums on Apple Music Nigeria since its release, demonstrating the artist’s unwavering influence in the music industry.
