Speak of music in Africa, and you are indirectly referring to the most populous country on the continent, Nigeria.

Music is one of the areas where the West Africa country can brag as the Giant of Africa. This is because the country is blessed with numerous artists who are lyrically sound with contents and good vibes.

While we are already approaching the second half of the year 2021, there are still some songs from 2020 that still sounds like new.

Recall that in 2020, three of Nigeria’s biggest stars, Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid, all dropped new albums.

Burna Boy dropped his album “Twice As Tall,” Davido blessed his fans with “A Better Time”, and Wizkid blessed us with his most anticipated album “, Made In Lagos.”

In the female category, Tiwa Savage dropped an album titled “Ceila” while Simi dropped “Duduke” which went viral for months owing to its powerful beat.

Aside from the artists mentioned above, there were other hit songs from 2020.

1. Monster You Made by Burna Boy

This song was released off his Grammy-nominated album “Twice As Tall” album.

Burna Boy featured Chris Martin in this song which has quality contents and relates to happenings in society, especially in Africa.

2. Smile by Wizkid

Big Wiz featured H.E.R. on this track off his Made In Lagos album. The song comes with a lot of instrumental, and it is very different from the kind of song Wizkid is known for.

To be sincere, if you watch the video of the song, you would surely smile.

3. Koroba by Tiwa Savage

This song by one of the Nigerian top female stars has a catchy beat and talks about the good life she wants to live.

4. Betty Butter – Mayorkun ft Davido

This song is one of the best released from D.M.W. music label in 2020.

The song, which is a title of a popular poem, comes with a good flow from the beginning to the end.

It talks about women, money, and social media.

5. Geng by Mayorkun

The song was a hit to the extent there was a release of “Geng Remix” E.P. with three different versions; the Naija Version, African Verison, and the U.K. version.

6. Abule by Patoranking

This track talks about Patoranking experiences and stories in the hood, and it also came with a nice flow.

7. Cash App – Bella Shmurda ft Zlatan and Lincoln

This was one of the most popular songs on the street with mixed interpretations.

It speaks about cashing out by all means.

8. Duduke by Simi

At first, everyone thought the song was about love; however, fans would later discover that Simi was pregnant during the song’s release, and it was about her unborn child.

9. F.E.M. by Davido

The song came after Davido left social media for weeks. It, however became a trending song as it was released during the period of the End SARS protest that rocked the country.

10. Infinity by Olamide ft Omah Lay

This was one of the YBNL boss track from 2020, which speaks about having passionate sex.

The song is a track off his Carpe Diem album.

11. Nobody by DJ Neptune, Mr Eazi, and Joeboy 

Following the release of the song, there were different versions of the song. DJ Neptune would later feature BBNaija lockdown winner, Laycon in another version of the song.

12. Green Light by Olamide

The song is also a track off his Carpe Diem album. According to Olamide, he said the project is a reflection of his mind, and also the current sound brewing underground in Nigeria.

13. Ginger by Wizkid ft Burna Boy

This is a song off Wizzy’s Made In Lagos album and was also one of his most popular songs in 2020.

14. Away by Oxlade

This song is part of Oxlade’s debut 6-song E.P. Oxygene. It fuses elements of Afropop, highlife and R&B.

15. Bop Daddy – Falz ft Ms Banks

One of Falz ever best songs. It comes with a heavy bass that will continue to play in your head after listening to it.
