Boy Spyce, a new Mavin signee, debuts with a self-titled debut EP, BOY SPYCE.
Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records debuts a new performer under the stage name Boy Spyce, coupled with his first new EP. This new signing follows the successful introductions of Ayra Starr and Magixx.
Boy Spyce is a cross between a wise old spirit inhabiting the body of a 20-year-old and an unapologetic self-aware young guy. Boy Spyce was born Ugbekile David Osameke in Lagos, Nigeria, and is a native of the historically rich Benin city in Edo state.
Growing up as the last kid among older siblings meant that he looked up to them in some ways; his first exposure to music came through his older brother, who was in a boyband at the time. Boy Spyce claims that witnessing him come up with melodies, put words together in a song, go to the studio, and rehearse with his other band members was pretty fascinating, which inspired him to start writing songs. His first music teacher was his brother.
His journey and discovery as an artist began while he was still a student at Lagos State Model College Kankon, where some of his classmates informed a teacher about his talent after witnessing him sing to himself several times. The teacher encouraged him to perform at the school’s social gathering, where he performed Mavin Records’ hit song Dorobucci.
He rose to fame on the internet by performing song covers with his distinctly unique voice and insightful lyrics. His main goal as an artist is to write songs for every feeling a person can have; he wants his music to be a soothing salve at any point in time for everybody who hears it.
