At the age of ten, Ayra Starr realized she was interested in music since her family supported and enjoyed it. She started off by creating songs with her brother Dami and singing in the church choir.
Her undergraduate years also significantly contributed to her immersion in music. According to Ayra Starr, she suffered continual bullying as a result of her age and attractiveness, which inspired her to turn to music, particularly Nicki Minaj’s.
At the age of 16, Ayra Starr joined a modeling agency in Lagos in August 2018. She worked with several different companies, such as Mazelle Studio, Complete Fashion Magazine, and Esperanza Woman Wear. Before she became well-known and dropped her first single, Ayra Starr already knew she wanted to go by the stage name “Ayra Starr.” According to her, the meaning of her stage name, “awake and eye-opening,” represents who she is. The talented singer is committed to writing music that will appeal to both adults and kids.
