African music sensation Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, “Love Damini,” has achieved gold certification in France, as confirmed by the Syndicat National de L’Edition Phonographique (SNEP).
“Love Damini,” released in July 2022, has garnered several certifications, including:
- Gold in Canada
- Gold in the Netherlands
- Gold in France
- Gold in Denmark
- Gold in Sweden
- Gold in New Zealand
- Silver in the United Kingdom
The album, distributed by Atlantic Records, features 19 tracks and collaborations with renowned global artists such as J Hus, Victony, Popcaan, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, and Khalid. According to SNEP, “Love Damini” has achieved 50,000 sales.
One standout track from the album, “Last Last,” became an unofficial anthem of the summer in 2022, amassing over 256 million streams. Additionally, “For Your Hand,” featuring British songwriter Ed Sheeran, has garnered more than 161 million streams on Spotify.
“Last Last” earned a Best Global Music Performance nomination at the 64th Grammy Awards, while the “Love Damini” album was nominated for Best Global Music Album in 2022. Burna Boy faced stiff competition in both categories but ultimately lost to Masa Takumi and Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode.
In the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards, Burna Boy has secured a nomination in the Best Afrobeats category, where he will compete against other Nigerian superstars like Asake, Davido, Ayra Starr, Aya Nakamura, and Rema. Burna Boy has also been nominated for Best African Category and Live Performance. The 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards are scheduled for November 5, 2023.
