Legendary artist, Baba Fryo hints come back after 20-years away from the music industry…
Friday Igwe, aka “Baba Fryo,” has announced that his new single “Show Love” will be released before the end of the year.
During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, the singer revealed that he had been absent from the music scene for 20 years.
The Afro-reggae artist stated that he had been out of the music field for 20 years before making a comeback in 2021 with the release of a single titled “Dey Your Dey.” He claims that the upcoming track “Show Love” is a follow-up to “Dey Your Dey.”
“Dey Your Dey,” he stated, “tells folks to refrain from becoming sycophants, parasitic, or hypocritical, but to display their actual personality and behaviour.”
Given the current sequence of killings and terrorist activities, the musician who gave Nigerians the “Galala” and the Denge Pose maestro said it was past time for Nigerians to grasp the power of love.
He argues that his new song would teach Nigerians the value of demonstrating love to one another.
“I will be releasing my new single before the end of the year, and I want to make Nigerians aware that, despite the country’s growing killings, we must cultivate the habit of demonstrating love to one another.”
“The situation in the country is horrible,” he added. We need to preach love more frequently. There would be no difficulty in society if bandits and terrorists could exhibit love.”
The singer characterizes his music as Afro-reggae-beats, a blend of Afrobeats and Reggae music, and says he aspires to be like late freedom heroes Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Bob Marley.
Baba Fryo, a renowned Nigerian musician in the 1990s, was noted for his pirate eye patch.
