Episode 5 of “The Real Housewives of Lagos” has taken a shocking turn, revealing the lengths people are willing to go to in order to gain acceptance in exclusive circles. This episode uncovers a world where people-pleasing and betrayal are the order of the day, leaving no one immune to the drama.

The Classy Demeanor of Faith Morey Amidst the Storm
Faith Morey, the poised and unflappable member of the cast, finds herself in a position she’d rather avoid. In a surprising twist, she has become the season’s target, with everyone but Toyin and Laura seemingly against her. What sets Faith apart is her ability to remain calm and collected, never stooping to the level of her accusers. Her dignified demeanor is a testament to her character, which, interestingly, rattles the feathers of some, like Iyabo Ojo who seek adoration.
Dr. Rommel’s Betrayal: Friend Turned Foe
Dr. Rommel on the other hand, who claims to be Faith’s friend, engages in behavior that would make anyone question the meaning of friendship. His unprovoked and nasty comments about Faith, which he uses to gain favor with Iyabo Ojo, leave a sour taste. Dr. Rommel’s betrayal raises questions about the authenticity of his friendship.
He claims to be Faith’s friend, and even from previous episode when Faith talked about meeting the other housewives, he already had a coloured perspective about them without even meeting them but Faith would have none of that. Now, for no reason and even when no one asked, he is going on about how fake Faith Morey is. The behaviour of this particular cast is quite shameful.
The Quest for Iyabo Ojo’s Favor: ‘People-Pleasers and Backbiters
It seems that the entire cast of the show, except for Laura and Toyin, appears to be biased against Faith in their pursuit of Iyabo Ojo’s favor, they all want to be on Iyabo’s good books. Perhaps the episode should have been titled “People-Pleasers and Backbiters” to better capture the essence of their motivations.
Toyin’s Path to Redemption and Tania’s Puzzling Presence
Meanwhile, Toyin is definitely redeeming herself in this season by decidedly staying away from drama, it seems Season 1 gave her enough drama to last the entire show or maybe she has gone back to original Toyin status who only gives drama when drama comes directly for her.
Costumes, Props, and Design
The use of props, costumes, and design arrangements for Toyin’s party is commendable. The traditional attire worn by the cast beautifully complements the props and set design, breathing life into the celebration and effectively conveying the stage play theme Iyabo envisioned for her 25-year milestone in the industry. The costume team did a great job with that.
Btw, we are still asking what exactly boring Tania is doing in the show, why is she there at all? To be a supporting cast? And Why is Chioma who is not in any way associated with marriage in the show bearing the title “Housewife?”
As the episode unfolds, questions abound. Will Dr. Rommel address his grievances with Faith privately, or will he create more public drama? Will Iyabo Ojo step down from her self-imposed pedestal and find common ground? Can Toyin successfully steer clear of drama until the season’s end, as she’s determined to do? We’ll wait and see!
