Strawberry Chinny, a compelling drama centred around a heartbroken makeup artist, has been officially selected to feature at the Essence Film Festival 2024 in New Orleans from July 4th to July 7th.

Directed by Cheta Chukwu and featuring a vibrant cast including Chimezie Imo, Genoveva Umeh, Modola Osifuwa, and Obehi Aburime, the film explores the resilience of the human spirit through its protagonist’s journey of self-discovery and emotional healing. The narrative unfolds within the complex dynamics of an unexpected living situation, adding layers to exploring personal growth and recovery.

Produced by Kele, Ngozi Okafor, and lead actor Chimezie Imo, under the banner of Vox Cinematic Films, the movie marks a significant milestone for the company. “To have our debut film selected at the Essence Film Festival feels like a step in the right direction for my company, Vox Cinematic Films,” commented Imo. He highlighted the selection as an affirmation of the company’s direction and dedication to impactful storytelling.

Director Cheta Chukwu shared insights into the creative process, emphasizing the film’s universal appeal. “The heart of Strawberry Chinny lies in its relatability.
