On Friday, November 29, Dayo Amusa’s latest movie offering, Omoniyun premiered.
Ella Chioma of Kemi Filani News joined the first sets of people to dash off to the cinema to see Omoniyun.
Omoniyun is a refreshing movie and if you are as soft as I am, you need to go in with your handkerchief, because it’s quite a emotional movie with deep lessons.
Omoniyun is the story of a 13 year old girl being molested by a prince, played by veteran actor, Segun Arinze. It searchlights the ills of child sexual abuse which is a symptom of parental negligence. It talks about STDs and child marriage among others.
The story is woven around the need to protect our children especially in today’s fast-moving world.
The concept of the movie dates back to the late 70s and early 80s. It is an old school vintage kind of movie from the set to props, cast and costumes. Very commendable.
Although brief and some unnecessary scenes, Omoniyun is recommended for all parents, especially mothers.
Never neglect the complaints of your girl-child!
