Ayo Edebiri, a 28-year-old Boston native with a Nigerian father and Barbadian mother, continues to add accolades to her impressive list of achievements. Securing her third award, the talented actor has been dominating this award season for her portrayal of chef Sydney in the stress-taurant comedy-drama.
In addition to her victories at the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards, Edebiri clinched the Primetime Emmy Award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy, recognized for her outstanding performance as chef Sydney Adamu in Hulu’s comedy-drama series, “The Bear.”
Earlier at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, she had already claimed the Best Actress in a Comedy Series award for her role in “The Bear,” surpassing notable competitors such as Hannah Waddingham, Janelle James, Juno Temple, Alex Borstein, Jessica Williams, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
Edebiri, a 29-year-old Nigerian-American artist, made a striking appearance at the primetime emmy event, gracing the red carpet in a bespoke 3D moulded Louis Vuitton black leather dress by Nicolas Ghesquière, the creative director of the fashion house since 2013.
“The Bear” has enjoyed a highly successful awards season, securing three wins for Edebiri at the Emmys, Golden Globes, and Critics Choice Awards this month.
Her co-stars, Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, also received acting accolades at all three ceremonies.
At the Emmys, “The Bear” emerged as the biggest winner, clinching 10 awards out of 13 nominations, including the coveted Outstanding Comedy Series.
Anticipating more noteworthy ventures, Edebiri is set to feature in Marvel’s 2024 release, “Thunderbolts.”
