It’s funny how everyone has been bashing or talking about celebrity couple, 2face and Annie Idibia following the release of Netflix’s first African reality show, “Young, Famous, & African” on the 18th of March, 2022, but it didn’t just revolve around them!
Well, Kemi Filani now brings you a review of the series (with no major spoilers) which not only features Annie and 2face Idibia but some other favourite A-list celebrities from around Africa.
The seven-episode glamorous reality series, stars Khanyi Mbau (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Annie Macaulay-Idibia (Nigeria), 2Baba (Nigeria), Zari the Boss Lady (Uganda), Naked DJ (South Africa), Nadia Nakai, Swanky Jerry (Nigeria), Andile Ncube (South Africa), and Kayleigh Schwark (South Africa).
First things first, Young, Famous and African is a really hot and enjoyable show, we didn’t want it to end! We literally screamed, whaaaaaaat when the final episode came to an end as it had us on the edge of our seats.
The high quality entertainment was premium and refreshing to watch! All the African all-stars brought their A-game to every scene, every conversation, and every dramatic moment.
Detailed attention was paid to everything! The Hair, makeup, wardrobe and styling was top notch. But, of course it has to be, seeing that there is a superstar stylist, Swanky on the cast. It also helps that the stars of the show are filthy rich and can afford the latest designer clothes and accessories. The team brought out many aspects of African fashion including strong features of kitenge and African-inspired jewellery and accessories.
The stars showed up for each other to celebrate the good times, and find solace in each other during difficult times. Clean production, everyone came to the table as real as possible.
The different triangular dramas from Diamond Platnumz to his babymama, Zari and Nadia and Andile and DJ Naked and all……we loved all of them!!
We were most particularly intrigued by Khanyi Mbau – girl rocks hard for her ‘friends’, will tell you how she is feeling straight up and still gossip with everyone behind everyone’s back.
Sadly though, we think Annie Idibia is a broken woman. She’s in an emotional abusive marriage. Why can’t African women put themselves first. How can you be with someone that constantly hurts you yet you call it love. Even her daughters see cheating as a norm.
Oh by the way, her wedding gown for her wedding renewal ceremony was horrible, what was that?!
Have you seen the series, what do you think of it?
If you haven’t, then you should check it out, it is binge worthy!
From us at Kemi Filani, it is 9.5/10
