Movie Review: With Sam Dede, Gabriel Afolayan ‘Gone’ is a must watch

Ella ChiomaBy Ella ChiomaJuly 24, 2021

Daniel Ademinokan recently bounced back to filmmaking with a new feature film titled “Gone“ and Kemi Filani movie review team was at the cinema today to bring you the movie rating.

“Gone” is a deeply emotional and dramatic thriller set in Lagos and New York City and its cinematic spectacle perfectly blends a cast of 3 Generations of Nollywood.

The cast of Gone includes Sam Dede, Stella Damasus, Gbenga Atitiloye, Gabriel Afolayan, Bimbo Ademoye, Sophie Alakija, Emma Oh Ma God, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Ada Ameh, Ngozi Ezeonu and more.

The movie is produced by Joy Odiete and Daniel Ademonikan.

Gone tells the story of Animashaun (Ani) who leaves his wife, 2 year old daughter and an unborn son back in Nigeria in search for a better life in New York City as a boxer.

In a bid to obtain a Green Card, he gets entangled with a white woman, who later falsely accused him of rape and assault. Ani was arrested, and imprisoned.

While he serves prison time in America, his family back home thinks he is dead.

Ani returns to Nigeria after 25 years to reclaim his family only to discover that a whole lot truly can happen in 25 years but he is determined to get his family back, even as his wife has found another love, solace and comfort in the arms of another man.

If you love good movies with lessons, then you’d love Gone. Sam Dede the veteran actor and Gabriel Afolayan deserve a standing ovation for their spectacular roles in the movie Gone.

Outstanding performance, good story line, very interesting comic relief, and more!

The only issue we have with Gone The Movie is the first 10 – 15 minutes into the movie, it was hard to understand what was going on. Anyone that doesn’t have patient would just quickly loose interest.

We also have issues with the kind of expensive wigs Stella Damasus wore, as an average struggling single mother of two. Stella (Ani’s wife) owns a makeshift shop in the front of her rented apartment, struggles to feed her two kids, yet rocks quite expensive hairstyles which is way above her supposed living standard.

Aside these two issues, Gone is a movie you would gladly watch more than once without getting bored!

For KFN we rate the movie 9/10!
