Movie Review: Why Love in a pandemic is a good movie showing at a wrong time

Love in a pandemic movie review

From the title “Love In A Pandemic,” you already know what to expect. As the title depicts, Love In A Pandemic is the story of two lovers who met during the COVID-19 Lockdown.

It all started when Bolanle (Nancy Isime) mistakenly dialed Alex’s (Deyemi Okanlawon) number. So naturally, Bolanle wouldn’t indulge Alex as her new friend, but she is left with no choice when her boyfriend, Uduak (Eso Dike), doesn’t seem to care about her. So with time, Alex became Bolanle’s lockdown buddy, while Bolanle hoped that her relationship with Uduak would work out.

Sadly, Bolanle found out Uduak was cheating on her, and when she thought she could move on with Alex, whom she already had feelings for, she realized Alex’s ex was back in his life and spending the Lockdown with him.

What happens after? Guess that’s for you to find out.

I’m unsure how to feel the storyline of Love in a Pandemic. It’s a good watch. But not one of the best I’ve seen. It lacks suspense and the mushy feeling a normal love movie should have. I mean, how can I watch a love movie and not have any “aww aww” moments? From the beginning of the movie, I could predict its flow, and it played out exactly that way. Let’s not even talk about the writer telling us a story of a pandemic that happened in 2020 in 2023. Like really?

The directing wasn’t bad at all. We had believable scenes, but that could also be because the style of the story didn’t require too much. Overall, the director did a good job bringing the story to life.

The actors in Love in a Pandemic made it a good watch. Despite knowing where the story was headed, we were still interested in watching it play out to the end. Nancy Isime has grown as an actor, which is amazing to see. There is no doubt that Deyemi Okanlawon is an amazing actor, and we saw that again. The scenes between Teniola Alasede and Deyemi were annoyingly cute; I loved watching those scenes. Teniola is a good actress. Ronke Odusanya and Uche Montana, although they were in just a few scenes, did well.

The scenery and costumes were really nice, and in all, I will give Love In A Pandemic 5/10
