Renowned Nigerian filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba, has officially kicked off the pre-production phase for the much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster thriller, King of Boys (KOB).
In an Instagram post, Adetiba tantalized fans with the revelation of the sequel, titled “KOB 3: The Beginning of the End”.
She disclosed that the upcoming production would introduce new characters while also welcoming back some familiar faces, with final casting calls already underway.
Promising an unexpected and elevated experience, Adetiba expressed her excitement about returning to tell this story, indicating that KOB 3 is set to maintain the impactful legacy of its predecessors while exploring new dimensions.
The Nigerian crime political thriller revolves around Alhaja Eniola Salami, portrayed by veteran actress Sola Sobowale, as she navigates the complex world of political power.
The first instalment, King of Boys, released in 2018, introduced Eniola’s character and became the 13th highest-grossing Nigerian movie of all time, accumulating ₦244 million.
The second instalment, a seven-part series titled “King of Boys: The Return of the King”, premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2021. It depicted Eniola’s ascent to legitimate political power after five years in exile, revealing her relentless pursuit to legitimize her underworld influence.
The stellar cast for KOB 3 includes Toni Tones, Reminisce, Illbliss, Akin Lewis, Osas Ighodaro, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Jide Kosoko, Adesua Etomi, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Efa Iwara, Deyemi Okanlawon, Titi Kuti, Keppy Ekpeyong, Bimbo Manuel, Charly Boy, Sharon Ooja, and Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett.
