Fans anticipate ‘Red Circle’ as new film lures Bukky Wright back to Nollywood

Bukky Wright Red Circle

Veteran actress Bukky Wright has returned to Nollywood by starring in a soon-to-be-released feature-length film titled ‘Red Circle’.

The actress who had been away from the big screen for a long time starred in the film (red circle) directed by Akay Mason and Produced by Nora Awolowo for Rixel Studios.

Other stars in the film include Folu Storms, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Lateef Adedimeji, Chief Femi Branch, Omowumi Dada, Mike Afolarin, Ruggedy Baba, Debo Macaroni, and more.

In a post on X social media platform, Producer Awolowo said, “This is my most ambitious project yet. Love when I get to stretch myself for something I love.”

In the caption to the film’s teaser, Awolowo revealed why she added Bukky Wright to the cast.

“You asked for Bukky Wright. My job was to make it happen!” the AMVCA winner said.

Her decision brought delight to movie fans who recall the stellar performance displayed by the veteran in Omotara Johnson released over a decade ago.

The film’s teaser showed a masked man who kidnapped several people, with each of them given reasons why they ought not to have been kidnapped. When it got to Bukky Wright’s turn, she gave off a sinister laugh, leaving me to believe that she would spell trouble for the kidnappers. I expect the film’s trailer to drop soon because I don’t think the teaser is enough to create anticipation.

Meanwhile, the film’s producers are yet to state when their work will be released to the public. It has not also been stated if the film will be in cinemas or on streaming platforms.

Born on March 31, 1967, Bukky Wright is one of the Nollywood legends whose beauty was like the icing on the cake of their talent. Some of the movies she starred in include Saworo Ide, Above Love, Abeni, Outkast, Kodun Kopo Kope, Gidi Blues, Omotara Johnson, Unforgivable, Afefe Alaafia, Dugbe Dugbe, Nkem Temi, Ago Meje, Oko Nnene, Habitat
Red Hot, IyoreWhen Love Happens, etc.

I wonder the kind of roles she will play now that she’s back in the movie industry. With age catching up on her, I expect her to star as a mother or play roles that won’t emphasize much on her beauty.

Aside from acting, Bukky Wright is also a successful businesswoman with a boutique in Lagos’s Lekki area. The outfit, she said is the result of long-term planning. “It took me a long time to plan this. I have always thought of sitting down in my shop and all the things in the shop being my brand. That’s why I’ve been trying to brand the name. I’ve always said that Bukky Wright is not just a name. It is a brand that could come out with anything. I’ve been nurturing it for a very long time,” she said.
