Two men, one woman arrested in India for drug trafficking

A 26-year-old Nigerian woman as well as two Nigerian men have been arrested over drug trafficking charges in India.

Local media reports that the Narcotics Control Bureau, Bengaluru, India, brought down a cocaine trafficking network in the city between Thursday and Friday last, attesting four foreigners during the bust.

The female suspect identified as Irene Omoibe, was reportedly arrested on Thursday, January 17, 2019, during a trip to Bengaluru from Mumbai.

Following series of questioning, Irene confessed to carrying roughly 400 grams of cocaine which was to be delivered to other members of the network upon her arrival at her destination.

With the help of the information gotten via her confession, three other memembers of the drug network, two Nigerians and one Sudanese, were arrested after being found waiting for Irene in a car.

According to the reports, one Nwanoro Chigbo Victor is the suspected kingpin while the other suspect, Kenneth Jideofor, was once reportedly and has just been released on bail.

The Sudanese suspect was identified as Antwan Faisal Mohammad.

The arrested suspects are under the suspicion of staying in the country under fake documents and will be prosecuted on all charges upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
