At least three people have been feared dead in a renewed cult rivalry war in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital.
KemiFilaniNews gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday night, in Asase, North Bank area of the town.
A resident of the area who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed to our correspondent that the victims were suspected cultists killed by rival gang members.
The source said the area has been under constant terror by rival cultists fighting for supremacy.
“Life here is nasty, wicked and short.
Last night alone there were 3 casualties,” he said.
Recall that KemiFilaniNews reports that no fewer than four people were feared dead following a cult rivalry clash in Gboko town of Benue State, on Tuesday night through the morning of Wednesday, 15th September 2021.
He said there is currently pandemonium in the area as residents fear there may be reprisal attacks from rival culture gangs tonight.
“It obvious that tonight it may be bloody,” he said.
The source lamented that despite all the killings going on in the area, no one has been arrested.
Asked if the police are are aware of the disturbing situation, he said; “The police are not ignorant of it. They are not ignorant of their modus operandi.”
Efforts by our correspondent to reach the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, proved abortive as her telephone lines were unreachable.
