Man rescued after jumping into the lagoon killed his girlfriend – Police

The 28-year old Uber driver who was rescued after he jumped into a lagoon in Lagos did so because he killed his girlfriend.

This is according to the Lagos State Police Command which rescued him from the lagoon after he attempted to take his life.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, David, Princewill David had an altercation with his girlfriend in a hotel before he killed her.

To escape justice, he took a Uber ride from Igando then told the driver to stop when they got to Third Mainland Bridge.

On alighting from the vehicle, Princewill jumped into the lagoon but landed on a piece of log which prevented him from reaching the water.

He was then rescued by the police who saw him jump into the lagoon.

When asked why he tried to take his life, he said he had been dumped by his girlfriend. The claim has now been found to be false.
