A 25- year – old cook, identified as Kelechi Ugwu , has allegedly damaged the private parts of her neighbour , named Emeka Egwu , who is a resident in Ajiwe , Ajah area of Lagos state.
According to sources, Kelechi Ugwu who has since been arrested by the police, committed the assault owing to the fact that the neighbor told her boyfriend to abandon her and has not made effort to reconcile the lovers who are yet to sort out their differences for quite some time.
It was gathered that the aggrieved lady had gone to meet her boyfriend (unnamed) in Emeka Egwu’s house but was told that he was not there. Though he had visited Emeka’s house, the lady was not aware that he had left and caused a scene thinking that the neighbor was an hindrance to her.
She was said to have complained and reported Emeka to her sister and another neighbor about his indifference to settle the disagreement and threatened to deal with him.
Getting wind of the angry lady’s threats to burn down his house, the victim reportedly went to her apartment and confronted her, leading to the fight that made him beat her with a stick. In the process, the woman was said to have gripped his private parts and damaged one of his scrotums with her fingers .
A police prosecutor , ASP P. O . Dike , brought Ugwu before a Tinubu Magistrate ’ s Court on one count of assault.
The charge read, “ That you , Kelechi Ugwu , on March 12 , 2018 , around 7 pm , at General Paint , Ajiwe , Ajah , in the Lagos Magisterial District , did cause harm to one Emeka Egwu, by using your fingernails to thwart (sic ) his scrotum , thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria , 2015 . ”
The presiding magistrate , Mr. L. O . Kazeem , granted her bail in the sum of N 50, 000 with one surety in like sum .
The case was adjourned till May 21, 2018 for trial.
