The Jigawa State Board of the Islamic police, Hisbah, has arrested 44 sex workers and 17 male clients during a raid on the popular “Gujungu” town in Taura Local Government Area of the state.

The Commandant of the Jigawa Hisbah Board, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru who disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse on Tuesday, said the sex workers were part of 61 persons arrested from the Taura Local Government Area on Monday.

He said the operation was done in collaboration with the Nigeria Police.

According to Dahiru: “The 44 women are suspected commercial sex workers. Also, 17 men were apprehended when the operatives raided the area at about 6am.

“The suspects have already been charged before a Magistrates’ Court in Ringim.”

The Commandant warned residents of the state particularly the youths to desist from engaging in vices and immoral acts capable of destroying their future and promoting social decadence.

Dahiru who also thanked the residents of the state for their support and cooperation to the board to enable it carry out its duties effectively, vowed that the board would not relent on its fight against immoral acts in all parts of the state.
