A moving Toyota Camry was gutted by flames in the wee hours of the day on Thursday, May 3,2018 in Maryland area of Lagos State. To the shock of passersby and residents of the area, the driver managed to hurriedly bring the car to a halt and made his way out of the fiery furnace.
The car was completely burnt down beyond recognition, despite the early morning showers. The driver amongst others stood far away from the debris of the fire as he stood still, dazed by what had just happened.
According to witnesses, the fire which engulfed the car to ruins was caused by a re-wiring electrical fault and thankfully, no casualties were recorded
The said victim of the car loss, who was forced to continue his trip to the office, noted that he had taken the car to the rewire but apparently, the artisan was careless with his job. After several attempts to salvage the situation including using two fire extinguishers, the fire continuously burned the car which was fully fueled as it emanated a pall of thick black smoke, drawing more attention of people
Witnesses at the venue asked the victim to be grateful for life as he was not consumed by the flames, neither was he hurt. Up until 7:30 am, the fire which started an hour earlier was unattended to as no one made an effort to reach the necessary authorities, but took videos and photos of the life changing incident
