Photos of Emmanuel Macron at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos
Below are pictures showing the President of France, Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Nigeria.
His first stop was at the State House in Abuja where his discussions with President Buhari focused on security (especially regarding G5S and stabilizing the Sahel), economic issues and the Inter Basin Water Transfer for Lake Chad. Both leaders also signed a number of Agreements.
Tweeting about some of his opinion on the challenges faced by Nigeria, Emmanuel Macron said, ”We have to understand why so many people are joining terrorism. We have to convey 2 messages: – Your government will provide security for you. – Your government will provide opportunities for you.”
After his meeting with President Buhari, Emmanuel Macron proceeded to Lagos state where he met with the governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the New Afrika Shrine founded by late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Singer and actor Banky W, who was one of the hosts at the celebration of The African Culture which held at the New Afrika Shrine, posed for a selfie with Akinwunmi Ambode and the French President.
Emmanuel Macron was later presented with a gift, a portrait of himself drawn by Kareem Olamilekan Waris. Macron tweeted how touching it was when he discovered the 11-year-old kid drew the portrait of him under 2 hours at the New Afrika Shrine yesterday. “I’m very touched,” he said.
