Ogun State police command arrested one Olanshile Nasirudeen, 47, for allegedly stabbing her 51-year-old husband to death in Ijebu Ode area of the state.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect, a co-butcher and 4th wife of the deceased, was arrested following a distress call received by the DPO of Obalende divisional headquarters, Ijebu-Ode.
Reports gathered showed that Olanshile saw the woman recently impregnated by her husband at the abattoir and started investigating why she had an intimacy with her husband.
This led to a hot quarrel between her and the deceased, resulting from which the suspect picked a knife and stabbed the dead at the back joint of his left leg, thereby cutting one of his veins. He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for first aid and later transferred to Ijebu Ode General hospital, where he finally died while receiving treatment due to loss of blood.
Upon a distress call, the DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, led his men to the scene, but the suspect went into hiding before their arrival. She was subsequently traced and was eventually arrested in her hideout at the Mobalufon area of Ijebu Ode.
Upon investigation, the suspect, who happened to be the fourth wife of the deceased, claimed that her husband first hit her simply because she asked his new wife her mission at her market stand.
