Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra has warned police officers and security operatives against smoking Indian hemp.
Obiano made this known in Awka during an event organized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in commemoration of the 2019 International Day against Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking.
According to Obiano, smoking of Indian hemp will only do damage to them without giving then any benefit as they’ve been made to believe.
Tracing the introduction of Indian hemp into the country to the period Nigerian soldiers fought in the second war, Obiano stated that what security operatives of today need to perform is intelligence not some enhancement from drugs.
Obiano stated, “We cannot have a 21st Century security system, whose personnel rely on consumption of Indian hemp and other illicit drugs. A modern security system relies more on brainwork and not Dutch courage. I implore you in the name of God to stop taking Indian hemp and other illicit drugs. It is not the way to go.”
