The Department of State Security, DSS, have released Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore and his co-defendant Olawale Bakare.
Sowore regained his freedom following a court ruling on Thursday which ordered the DSS to release him within 24 hours and also pay him the sum of N100,000 for refusing to release him despite two court rulings granting him bail.
The order was issued by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja who also adjourned the Federal Government’s case brought against both men till December 6.
Sowore was arrested and placed in custody of the DSS after he was accused of trying to overthrow the Buhari-led administration.
The Sahara Reporters publisher had staged a series of protests in key areas across the country tagged #RevolutionNow. The protests called for good governance among public office holders.
