Rev Stephen Akinola: All you need to know, age, wife, children, ministry

It was indeed a Black Sunday in Nigerian following the death of two popular clergies, Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations and General Superintendent of Redemption Ministries, Worldwide, Reverend Stephen Akinola.

The death of the 68 years old clergy comes less than 24 hours after TB Joshua died in Lagos after a church program.

Sources gathered that the fiery preacher was in Abuja for his second kidney transplant operation when he died in the early hours of Sunday.

Reverend Stephen Akinola had reportedly spent several months in India for the same transplant, but it was unsuccessful.

Kemifilani brings to you some of the things you may need to know about the popular Port Harcourt based pastor.

Stephen Akinola is a native of Igboho, Oyo State, born on 4th March 1953 in the Northern part of Ghana, in a city called Tamale, into the family of Samuel Akinola but lost his father to a ghastly accident at the age of 13.

In 1971, he returned to Nigeria and started his career as a teacher in the Baptist Primary School, Igboho. After working for two years at the Yaba College of Technology, he furthered his education and decided to go into ministry after completing his education.

During his National Youth Service Corps days, he functioned as one of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, organizing Bible study and prayer meetings.

Pastor Akinola left Deeper Christian Life Ministry in January 1987 and started his won ministry, the Redemption Ministries, which has tremendously increased and has cut across several states in Nigeria and outside the country to places like Brazil, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Pastor Stephen Akinola is happily married to Pastor (Mrs.) Matilda Ayebatonye Akinola, the marriage is blessed with children.
