At least 125 suspects ahve been arrested in connection to the looting on Shoprite outlets in Lagos State.
This was confirmed by the Area Commander of Shangotedo, Gbolahan Olugbemi.
The looting occurred when some irate youths attacked the outlets in Lagos as reprisal for the xenophobic attacks suffered by Nigerians in South Africa.
The first to be attacked was the Shoprite at Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos State. Angry protesters stormed the mall yesterday and vandalized the building, making away with valuable goods.
The mob action saw the death of a young man who was allegedly shot dead by policemen drafted to restore order at the location.
Shortly after, reports stated that the Shoprite at Ikeja City Mall was shut down due to a build up of protesters trying to replicate what took place at Lekki.
The video seen below shows the damage done to the Surulere Mall in Lagos as protesters made their way in while attempting to reach the Shoprite retail outlet.
