The Chief Director of Palace Administration, Olu of Warri Palace, Chief Maleghemi, on Tuesday, revealed and debunked the reported death of Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli was untrue.
In a statement in Warri made available to journalists, Chief Maleghemi said “His Majesty is indisposed and currently receiving medical attention by a team of qualified medical specialist.”
Kemi Filani News recalls that the whole of Warri was thrown into anguish after the Olu of Warri, Ikenwoli Godfrey Emiko, reportedly died from COVID-19 complications.
According to Sahara Reporters, the monarch was said to have died on Monday morning, this is barely a week after his fifth coronation anniversary. It was gathered that he was said to have met with the late Major General John Irefin, who died earlier this month from COVID-19 complications.
Though none of the palace chiefs was willing to confirm or deny it, there was obvious apprehension in the palace vicinity on Monday while some people were also in a sombre mood.
The late monarch, who was born on March 19, 1955, ascended the throne on December 12, 2015.
