Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has stated that he will not be attending the swearing-in ceremony where Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be declared Governor of Lagos State.
Yesterday, we reported that Ambode officially handed over to Sanwo-Olu. He took to social media to appreciate Lagosians for giving him a four years experience.
He tweeted:
“To the Glory of God, I have just handed over the reins of government in Lagos State to His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, after a rewarding 4-year experience. This would not have been possible without the support, cooperation and prayers of all Lagosians. I remain eternally grateful to you all. God bless you all. And to God be all the Glory”.
Ambode via a short statement today by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, revealed that he will not be present at the swearing-in ceremony which will take place today at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, in Lagos.
“I have already formally handed over reigns of power in the State to the new Governor in a most cordial and convivial ceremony at the State House yesterday. The formal inauguration should have Mr. Sanwo-Olu as the star of the day. I don’t think that glory should be shared with him by my presence,” Ambode said.
