A group of rampaging irate youths from Jos South has gone berserk by destroying at least six, (6) houses believed to be owned by Tarok settlers for allegedly pointing those of them that are into criminal activities to security agencies.
Vehicles belonging to Tarok natives were also damaged beyond repair by the mob alleged to be of Berom extraction.
KemiFilaniNews gathered that the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, September 19, 2021, in Kwata district of the town.
An eyewitness said the rampaging irate youths who were armed with dangerous weapons, on Sunday embarked on operation “show me Tarok speaking natives’ houses”.
He said the mob shoot sporadically to scare the residents away and then set their houses and other properties ablaze.
The eyewitness said that the disturbing development was initially reported to the DPO of Bukuru Police Station but there was no urgent security response.
Former Chairman of Wase LGA, Hon Jacob Dashe confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with journalists in Jos on Monday morning.
He said six houses and several cars were destroyed by the suspected irate Berom youths.
“If the Berom has something against us settling on their land they should come out and inform us rather than treating us like foreigners,” he said.
“Only a few of us escaped the onslaught, but no one died, while none sustained injury.”
He called on the relevant authorities to do something urgently about the situation.
